Background
I have always had a keen interest in technology, and this developed to be
something quite specific to small businesses.
My experience within the I.T. industry started just after my 16th birthday (3rd
August 1994) when I started a summer job working at the Surrey Institute of Art
and Design offering technical support to students on PC and Apple systems.
By the time I was 20, I held a number of I.T support and networking positions
dealing first hand with users at Sony,
Ericsson and the London
Borough of Merton.
I felt I learnt a great deal at each, but overall was very frustrated - there
was a great divide between management and working situations.
‘Solutions’ were being implemented to target specific requirements – often at
great cost – with it clear to anyone technically aware that the solution would
not achieve any of the objectives.
As most of the scenarios involved outsourced I.T. companies, I was in the I.T.
‘frontline’ dealing with corporate users on a day-to-day basis feeling limited
by the service that was on offer.
It was then that I started providing I.T. networking services directly to small
businesses, and put myself in a position where I could offer a better service.
Through experience in mismanagement of I.T., it was clear to me how important it
was to effectively manage I.T. operations – on any scale – and this required an
efficient and effective platform to do so.
In November 2001, after a successful period of supporting a number of small
businesses, another of my keen interests – the Internet – became an important
part of the service.
Rado Stoyanov, working out of Varna,
Bulgaria, started Web and Application development on a system that
would fulfil a diverse set of requirements to meet small business expectations.
2 years later (August 2003), and we had crafted
a system that offers the ultimate in small business productivity (Business
Central) – formed from a partnership that combined strong customer orientated
service and a high technical ability.
I founded Key4 to develop the services and platform further, and am now eagerly
anticipating the future, with a platform ready for today’s business; a core set
of services that build small businesses; and as always - an open mind.
Hobbies & Interests
Aside from technology, I generally appreciate anything that involves adrenalin –
although snowboarding is my clear favourite.
A winter in Les Arcs (French
Alps) had a lasting effect, and I now have a genuine love of the mountains –
which I regularly opt for in preference to a summer holiday.
Like most, I enjoy music, and devote any free time in the summer to music events
and concerts.
I like to consider myself open-minded, ambitious, and somewhat a perfectionist –
although believe these are all better judged by others! I enjoy being motivated
by work, which I find highly rewarding.
By far though, I am most looking forward to the future, and in particular
Business Central. I see it as an evolution that has come about from
hands on experience and a strategic partnership - I met and worked with someone
who shared many of my views and visions - but from a software development
perspective.
I don't live and breathe work 24*7, but I do get a great deal of satisfaction
from it in all areas of my life.
