Permanent Internet connection
Ideally the connection will be broadband, although permanent ISDN
connections are ok. This allows us access out of hours to your system
for maintenance purposes.
Dial-up users please be aware that some ISP’s (such as BT
Anytime) limit the amount of hours you can use your Internet connection
a day - these types of connection are not suitable. |

Static IP Address or dynamic DNS
The connection will ideally have a fixed IP address (same IP address
the whole time, dialup connections and most broadband connections
often change your IP address every time you connect), although there
is a small application (free) that can be used to avoid this (www.no-ip.com).
This can be set-up over the phone with Key4 prior to us establishing
a remote administration link to your system. |

Suitable backup drive/device &
media
A sutiable backup device and appropriate media is the location your
backup data will be stored. There are several possible locations your
backup information could be stored; a backup drive, a remote location,
etc.
In most small business cases the most suitable option is an onsite
tape backup device that allows large volumes of data to be backed
up and taken off-site in a reliable cost-effective environment for
the purpose at hand.
The type of backup device required is specific to the size of requirements.
Entry level backup drives generally provide 12Gb capacity (uncompressed)
on 1 tape. |

Internal IT Manager / Contact
Our services are possible at their prices because we take
care of the on-going and difficult bits, and then depend on you when
required for some simple on-site services and at times for further
information.
Typical examples of this are someone to inform and liase with when
a backup has failed - and then take the relevant action (such as
changing a tape), or the same for a virus (perform an action at
a client machine). This allows us to keep our prices low, and manage
any given situation.
The successful maintenance of your network is a partnership! |
