Any potential disaster can have an extremely heavy impact on businesses
- in some cases fatal! Disasters can be caused by a number of reasons; Natural
disaster; mechanical failure; viruses and worms; terrorist activities, but
the most common cause of all I.T. related problems is user-error.
Not all disasters will be the worst-case scenario - which is total loss
of a site and everything in it, or somthing (such as a virus) that renders
all data unrecoverable - but all scenarios should be carefully planned for.
Critical to any disaster recovery situation is a suitable and readily available offsite backup (or fire-safe protected backup) which will be the single most important element in any attempted recovery situation.
Support Backup (included in Support Gold) maintains an ongoing backup solution that is suitable for Disaster Recovery situations.
On order, Key4 will investigate your network and draw up a report of critical services and data that would require urgent restoration. Normally this informtation would include frequently used programs, accounting information, email and Internet access, data files and other software applications that are critical to each individual companies requirements.
From here, Key4 will draw up an action plan about what to do in a disaster
recovery situation. We will prepare responsible individuals for the actions
they have to taken, document and make the plan available to those who require
it.
Within the plan will be specific contact information for Key4 to be informed
of the situation. From here we will start the recovery of the critical I.T.
systems in place.
If there has been a loss of hardware and replacement hardware is not available, Key4 will provide replacement hardware and deliver it to the disaster recovery location. We will liase with the appropriate personnel to retrieve the backup media, and begin the restoration process.
Without the logistics of the excersise (i.e. travelling to site), Key4 has run tests and fully restored all company services when only the original backup media was available within 12 hours.
In the event of any kind of disaster, it will be a service your company depends on, and that will greatly reduce the cost of the recovery. All temporary hardware is supplied free of charge - as is all labour associated with rebuilding your network.
