Why Key4 Networking?

A company has 11 computers - 1 of them a server, installed with Microsoft® Small Business Server® 2000.

Key4 inherited the system from a previous installation, and investigated the network, and made the necessary modifications to the existing installation. The network was subsequently maintained using Key4 Support Bronze.

Information is stored in shared directories on the server, and users are advised where to store their information.

The company has ADSL installed, with access being provided through Microsoft® Internet Security and Acceleration Server® (included in Small Business Server® 2000).

Users Microsoft® Outlook® information is stored centrally using Microsoft® Exchange Server® (included with Small Business Server® 2000). Mail is sent and received instantly through a Key4 Hosting Account, and the fastest possible email configuration, with all mail being sent and received together.

Users also have access to each other’s calendars and there is a company contact list that everyone has access to. Some of the users also monitor other users mailboxes when they are out of the office for any urgent information, although all users have access to their email from any Internet Connection out of the office.

Virus software is configured centrally through the server. Internet Connections are scanned, all incoming and outgoing emails are scanned, and all files are scanned, as well as periodic scans of all information. Virus updates are checked daily, with new updates automatically updating all machines on the network.

Networking Installations

Any virus activity is instantly reported to Key4, who investigate the problem through remote administration of the company’s server, under a Key4 Support Bronze Contract.

Key4 established that Sage Line 50® and Sage Payroll® were installed, and data files were transferred to the server to be included in backups.

Every night scheduled backups are run on the server, backing up the company’ s ‘valuable data profile’.

Every backup automatically notifies Key4 of the result, with any failed backups followed up to establish and correct the cause of the problem, under a Key4 Support Bronze Support Contract.
